Har Ki Dun Trek Itinerary

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri

Altitude: 6,455 ft.

Drive: 6-7 hrs. (187 km)

Meals: Dinner

Stay: Stay at a guesthouse on a sharing basis.

Reach Sankri, taking a shared cab from Dehradun (8-9 am).

Ride by the Yamuna River (approx. 7 hrs), to reach Sankri. It’s the base camp for Kedarkantha Trek, Bali Pass Trek, etc.

Check in to Sankri guest house, rest, and explore nearby on your own.

Have your meal at 8.30 pm and retire for the day.

Day 2: Drive to Taluka and Trek to Ghanghad

Altitude: 6,455 ft. to 8,160 ft.

Drive: 12 km

Trek: 10 km

Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner

Stay: Stay in tents on a double / triple sharing basis.

Wake up for breakfast (around 8 am). Later, get transferred to Taluka- trek starting point.

A few km into the trek cross a small stream through a Cemented bridge, then another stream through a wooden bridge.

A couple of hours into the trek, take a halt at Someshwar Devta temple and start again.

The trail ascends, view the confluence of Thamasa & Ruinsara River, Few more meters to the campsite, and enjoy a view of the snow-capped Dhauladhar range.

Rest, have your evening snacks, have dinner and retire for the day.

Day 3: Ghanghad to Kalkatiyadhar

Altitude: 8,160 ft. to 9,922 ft.

Trek: 7 km

Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner

Stay: Stay in tents on a double / triple sharing basis.

Wake up, have breakfast and later trek towards the wooden bridge dividing the valley.

Have the first view of Har ki Dun and Hata Peak, once you cross pine & rhododendron forest, river streams and mountain bends.

Cross the boulder section and reach the campsite area near the Thamasa River.

Enjoy your evening with snacks followed by dinner and good sleep.

Day 4: Kalkatiyadhar to Har Ki Dun and back to Kalkatiyadhar

Altitude: 9,922 ft. to 11,700 ft. and back to 9,922 ft.

Trek: 6 km

Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner

Stay: Stay in tents on a double / triple sharing basis.

Today you’ll trek the Himalayas Har Ki Dun Valley. Pack essential only, leaving rest at campsite.

Bless your eyes with the vast view of the ground below Swargarohini peak.

After spending enough time at Har Ki Dun, retrace your way back to the campsite.

Enjoy your dinner and rest.

Day 5: Kalkatiyadhar to Ghanghad

Altitude: 9,922 ft. to 8,160 ft.

Trek: 7 km

Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner

Stay: Stay in tents on a double / triple sharing basis.

Head back to Ghanghad campsite, post breakfast.

Cross the steep boulders section, followed by meadows with pine, walnut, and cedar trees.

Reach campsite for evening snacks watching the sunset.

Have dinner and retire for the day.

Day 6: Ghanghad to Taluka and drive to Sankri

Altitude: 8,160 ft. to 6,455 ft.

Drive: 12 km

Trek: 10 km

Meals: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner

Stay: Stay in guesthouses on a sharing basis

Have breakfast and trek to the start base point (Sankri).

Cross the same cemented and wooden bridge from Day 2 to reach Taluka.

Take the shared cab from Taluka to Sankri.

Have your meals & snacks at respective times and then rest.

Day 7: Sankri to Dehradun

Meal: Breakfast

Drive: 187 km (6-7 hrs.)

Wake up to a fresh morning, have your breakfast.

Ride back to Dehradun (reach around 6 pm).With a heavy heart, bid goodbye to Har ki Dun Trek Uttarakhand.

Things to Carry on Har ki Dun Trek Package

1. Shirts / T-shirts –2/3, Jeans / Trekking Pants -2

2. Windproof jacket of decent quality (no flimsy wind cheaters please!) preferably with a hood

3. Warm and thick Fleece / Full-sleeve Woollen sweater

4. Thermal inner wear (upper & lower), Scarf / muffler (optional)

5. Woollen cap, Woollen gloves, Woollen socks & regular socks (3-4 pairs)

6. Comfortable Trekking / Hiking shoes (Waterproof shoes with a thick sole are recommended)

9. Water bottle (sturdy ones, no empty Bisleri bottles!!)
