The trek starts from a small traditional Himachal village known as Pantwari with a gradual elevation over a paved trail. Only after a few km, the trail slowly turns onto a twisted stony route with several water crossings in between and takes you to your cosy base camp. The summit which is in a form of a long ridge is an amazing place for you to spend your beautiful morning and afternoon overlooking the spectacular valley. The ridge also gives you a 360-degree view of adorable Himalayan snow-capped mountains and floating white clouds over them, but if the weather changes, you might be bathing within those cotton-soft clouds. Doesn’t it feel so much like heaven? Well, Nag Tibba is indeed accessible heaven on mountains.

Nag Tibba Trek is particularly known for its splendid views of iconic landscapes and astonishing height within a few hours of trek. For us, the meeting point is either Dehradun railway station or the airport. Dehradun is itself a beautiful hill station with a lot of splendid spots and creative cafes and restaurants. It is a place which gives you a chance to visit peaceful Monasteries like Mindrolling Monastery and also go bring out the fun in yourself over thrilling treks, both at the same time. Another added advantage to the Nag Tibba Trek route is the scenic drive from Dehradun to Pantwari village via Mussoorie. This drive takes you on a road with the sparkling Yamuna running beside you and oak forests forming large umbrella above you.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dehradun to Pantwari to Nag Tibba base camp

Altitude: 2,090 ft to 4,642 ft and to 7,612 ft

Drive: 90 km (3-4 hr drive)

Trek: 4 km (4-5 hrs)

Meal Included: Lunch – Evening snacks – Dinner

Stay Type: Stay in tents on a double/triple sharing basis.

  • As Nag Tibba trek is absolutely a weekend trip, one can also decide to drive down directly from Delhi to Dehradun or Pantwari village. You can either join us from Dehradun or directly from Pantwari village too. The drive from Dehradun to Pantwari which is our starting point for the trek will take about 3 – 4 hours of a scenic drive.
  • Once you have reached Pantwari, gather together with the team. Your trek guides will give you a short briefing about all the necessities related to the trek and the terrain. Once through, you are ready to start with the exciting adventure.
  • To introduce you with the steepness, initially, you will trek over a cemented-routes taking you through dense forests. After walking for a while, you will reach Nag Devta temple from where, turning left you the trail will start turning into a rocky shepherd’s trail.
  • For the beginners, it might be a little exhausting to trek over a steep trail, but there is nothing to be sad. After proper 30 minutes trek and crossing over the 3rd road crossing, you will find a perfect spot to rest and refill your water bottles. Rejuvenate yourself here and get ready to trek the left-over distance.
  • Gradually, you will observe that the elevation has started increasing and also the altitude. The peak which seemed very far and high now would be much nearer to you. Here is the point from where you will start experiencing the real adventure of Nag Tibba Trek. The views, the height and the weather will leave you baffled.
  • Keep trekking until and enjoying the views until you see a large clearing and a bunch of camps. This is the base camp for your trek. Take a deep breath and feel happy to be able to climb to such a height. This is your moment. Have your tasty snacks and savour the delicious dinner with an amazing view of Himalayas.

Day 2: Nag Tibba base camp to Nag Tibba Summit to Pantwari and to Dehradun.

Altitude: 7,612 ft to 9,915 ft and to 2,090 ft

Trek: 12 km (8-9 hrs.)

Meal Included: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening snacks

Drive: 90 km (3-4 hrs. drive)

  • Wake up and stretch yourself to a beautiful day. Today’s is the day of utmost adventure and thrills. Buckle up, get dressed and do your steaming hot breakfast. See how amazing a cup of hot tea feels in the mountains.
  • Depending on the weather, the trails difficulty level will increase and decrease. If it is winters, you might experience a lot of snow and hence will have to face some difficulty to cut through. But because there are a lot of other trekkers too who keep coming and going, there will be a studded path even in the snow area. Else, during the summers or at any other time, you won’t face any problem.
  • After a few km of trekking, the last one km is the steepest. It is advisable that you keep walking in a line and ask for help if needed. Only after trekking through the last one km, you will climb to the top of the Nag Tibba mountain.
  • The top of the peak is in a ridge kind of a form which helps you to take a stroll and find the highest point which will be marked with a flag. Look around and observe the splendour beauty of nature and the vastness of Swargrohini, Bandarpoonch, Kala Nag, Srikantha, and Gangotri peaks on your left and Kedarnath peak in the north. Nag Tibba trek offers you the astounding views of snow-topped mountains, lush green meadows and viridescent summit. Enjoy some moments walking around and look for breathtaking views of Himalayan ranges.
  • After seeping in all the good vibes from the mountains and the astonishing views, start your trek back the base camp and finally to Pantwari village, right from where you had started.
  • Just like the other day, drive back to Dehradun which will approximately take 4 hours and have the rest of the day at your leisure. 5. Woollen cap, Woollen gloves, Woollen socks & regular socks (3-4 pairs)

6. Comfortable Trekking/Hiking shoes (Waterproof shoes with a thick sole are recommended)

7. Lightweight floaters/sandals/slippers

8. Raincoat / Poncho, Small quick-dry towel

9. Water bottle (sturdy ones, no empty Bisleri bottles!!)

10. Cap / Hat to keep the strong sun away from your face

11. Sun glasses (polarized/UV Protected), Walking stick / Trekking pole

12. Sunscreen Lotion, Lip Balm, Torch / Flashlight (with extra batteries)

13. Medicines, if requiring any specific medication
