About Friendship Peak Trek

The Friendship Peak Trek is one of the famous treks in the Indian Himalayan range among the trekker’s community. Situated at the height of 17,380 ft. Friendship peak altitude is covered under the snow throughout the year. The trail to the peak is steep and almost take a full day to reach the summit and come back to the campsite. From the summit, one can fetch the majestic panoramic of the Pir Panjal range, against the back of silver horizons formed by the Dhauladhar and Great Himalayan ranges.

Friendship Peak Trek Distance

The Friendship peak route is one of the challenging Himalayas trek route. One should have an experience of travelling to higher altitudes before stepping in the trek. The journey passes through the beautiful Solang valley, featuring several alpine meadows, thick forest dotted with varied species of Alpine trees. The trail starts to become challenging when you reach high altitudes with a thick sheet of snow, your trek over the narrow ridges. In order to conquer Friendship Peak, you must pay attention to the trek leader and follow the acclimatization process.

The trip begins in Solang Valley, outside Manali, and takes you to one of the most famous trekking mountains in the Pir Panjal range. Moreover, Friendship Peak trek difficulty level is rated moderate to difficult. A great choice for experienced climbers looking to transition to climbing. The top is encircled by lush fields and deep trees, with heavy snow stacked on top. Indrasen, Deo Tibba, Hanuman Tibba, Shitidhar, and the distant Dhauladhar range can all be seen from the peak. This can be viewed as an 8-9-day hiking and climbing excursion.

Friendship Peak Trek Itinerary

Friendship Peak Trek:-

Day 1: Arrive at Manali

Altitude: 8400 ft.

Meals Included: Lunch – Dinner

Stay Type: Tents

Report and meet our team representative at Manali campsite.

Later, start your acclimatization process, trekking nearby your tent.

In the evening, visit the nearby market.

Attend evening briefing session followed by dinner.

Day 2: Manali – Solang – Raoli Thatch

Altitude: 11000 ft.

Meals Included: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Trek: 8 km

Stay Type: Tents

Wake up for breakfast at the campsite and get transferred to Solang valley.

The trek starts from Solang Valley. Meanwhile, enjoy the Mountain View and the Beas River flowing alongside your ride.

Start trekking on the rocky path following the road to the bridge which connects Rohtang Tunnel.

Trek 20 – 25 min. to cross small boulders and the Beas river to reach Raoli Thatch.

Rest and retire for the day at the campsite.

Day 3: Raoli Thatch – ABC Lady Leg

Altitude: 15000 ft.

Meals Included: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Trek: 4 km

Stay Type: Tents

Wake up fresh for breakfast and start your trek to Lady Leg.

The point Lady Leg is named after its visual physical feature Lady’s leg.

Cross Bhoj – Pather ridge, experiencing the tree skin which was used in the old times to write on it.

Post crossing streams and moraine patches, pitch your camps around nature.

Rest, have your dinner and retire for the day.

Day 4: Summit Camp | Training Day

Altitude: 15800 ft.

Meals Included: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Trek: 4 km

Stay Type: Tents

Wake up for breakfast and start your acclimatization process later.

Today you will be issued the crampons and the ice axes and a small orientation programme will be conducted on snow patches.

A small training session will be conducted by the trek leader which will be efficient in order to climb the Friendship peak.

Meals and stay will be provided on the campsite.

Day 5: Summit Attempt

Altitude: 17380 ft.

Meals Included: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Trek: 4 km

Stay Type: Tents

Wake up early around 4AM, have breakfast and make the summit climb to the Friendship Peak.

During night, the snow is walkable (as it melts after sunrise) and you’ll reach the peak right during sunrise.

Follow your trek leader, as you’ll be walking over the snow. Slowly and steadily you will conquer the Friendship Peak.

Capture the panoramic view of the Pir Panjal range, against the back of silver horizons formed by the great Himalayan ranges.

After spending enough time at the summit point, descend back to the Lady leg campsite and rest for the day.

Day 6: Buffer Day | Summit Attempt

Altitude: 15000 ft. | 17380 ft.

Meals Included: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

Trek: 4 km

Stay Type: Tents

This is the spare day of the trek, in case the weather doesn’t permit it.

Day 7: Lady Leg – Raoli Thatch – Manali

Altitude: 8400 ft.

Meal Included: Breakfast

Trek: 12 km

Wake up to a great morning, have your breakfast and get ready to descend down to Raoli Thatch.

After reaching Raoli Thatch, rest for a while and trek back to Solang and from there a short drive to Manali.Bring this adventure to an end.

Things to Carry on Friendship Peak Trek

1. Shirts / T-shirts –4/5, Trekking Pants -3

2. Windproof jacket of decent quality (no flimsy wind cheaters please!) preferably with a hood

3. Warm and thick Fleece / Full-sleeve Woollen sweater

4. Thermal inner wear (upper & lower), Scarf/muffler

5. Woollen cap, Woollen gloves, Woollen socks & regular socks (5-6 pairs)

6. Comfortable Trekking (Waterproof shoes with a thick sole are recommended)

7. Lightweight floaters/sandals/slippers

8. Raincoat / Poncho, Small quick dry towel

9. Water bottle (sturdy ones)

10. Cap / Hat to keep the strong sun away from your face

11. Sun glasses (polarized/UV Protected), Walking stick / Trekking pole

12. Sunscreen Lotion, Lip Balm, Torch / Flashlight (with extra batteries)

13. Medicines, if requiring any specific medication
