Meet your guide as you land in Dimapur, who will brief you about the tour on the way to Khonoma. Enjoy your driveway crosses through local markets, enjoying laal cha. Finally, arrive in the village of Khonoma- home of the Angami Naga tribe who are native to Nagaland, India. Besides, it is also the first green village in Asia. Enjoy an overnight leisure stay resting and relaxing at your Inn.

The next morning, get ready to take a closer look at tribal lifestyle. Try your hands chopping firewood, fetching water, and other daily tribal activities. Later, have your breakfast served, overlooking a terrace field. Take a local sightseeing tour in the village, and afterward enjoy a picnic lunch at the buffer zone of ‘Khonoma Nature Conservation & Tragopan Sanctuary. Post lunch, drive back to Kohima for an overnight stay.

Wake up to your leisurely breakfast and get ready for the most popular tribal festival in India- Hornbill Festival. Drive down to the Naga Heritage Village of Kisama where the festival takes place and witness the culture and traditions of different Naga ethnic groups. Enjoy a great time interacting with locals and capturing their lifestyle, tasting their local drinks and cuisines. Moreover, explore some local attractions of Kohima including the World War II cemetery, local bazaar, and the Cathedral at Kohima. The following day, the tour continues for a trek to Dzukou Valley. Also known as the “Valley of Flowers”, the Dzukou Valley trek is moderately difficult rewarding you with rich natural beauty. Explore the valley in its eternal charm, enjoying a bonfire under a sky full of stars and retire into your tented accommodation afterward. The next morning, you will trek back to the starting point and head to Dimapur for an overnight stay.

The Hornbill Festival 2021 Tour package next visits the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kaziranga National Park. A paradise for all nature lovers, Kaziranga National Park is famous for its one-horned rhinoceroses and has set an example of Rhino and Tiger conservation in India. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and spend the evening at leisure enjoying a cultural dance performance at Orchid Park, performed by locals. Enjoy an early morning jeep safari through one of the 3 ranges of the park. Head back to the hotel for breakfast and drive to the last destination of the tour package Guwahati. Head for an evening cruise over the Brahmaputra River or explore the local markets on your own. Later, spend an overnight in Guwahati and rest.

The next morning, you will be driven to the airport, marking the end of the Hornbill Festival Tour Package.

Itinerary

Day 1: Dimapur to Khonoma

Drive: 100 km

Stay: Hotel 

  • Reach Dimapur airport, meet your guide and get briefed about the tour.
  • Enjoy the drive and take a stop at fruit and vegetable bazaar, also try the local tea commonly known as “laal cha”
  • Reach Khonoma village, check in to your hotel and enjoy the day in leisure.

Day 2: Khonoma to Kohima

Meal: Breakfast

Drive: 20 km

Stay: Hotel 

  • Wake up to a fresh morning, have your breakfast served overlooking a terrace field.
  • Indulge yourself in the local way of living by chopping firewood, fetching water, and preparing food for the animals.
  • Take lunch at the buffer zone of ‘Khonoma Nature Conservation & Tragopan Sanctuary.
  • Later in the evening move towards Kohima for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Hornbill Festival

Meal: Breakfast

Stay: Hotel 

  • After breakfast, move towards Kisama village, the venue of Hornbill festival.
  • Walk around the different huts set up by the different tribes and try the different cuisines on offer.
  • Take the opportunity to move around the tribal cottages, interact with local folk, and click some awesome photos.
  • Later in the evening head back to Kohima for an overnight stay.

Day 4: Hornbill Festival

Meal: Breakfast

Stay: Hotel 

  • Have your breakfast, explore the World War II cemetery, the local bazaar and  the Cathedral.
  • After exploring the festival grounds, take the 30 min drive to Kigwema village.
  • Get a chance to sit inside a Morung with locals and learn about their way of living.
  • Later in the evening head back to Kohima for an overnight stay.

Day 5: Kohima to Dzukou Valley

Meal: Breakfast + Packed Lunch + Dinner

Stay: Tent 

  • Wake up to a fresh morning, have your breakfast, take your packed lunch and take the jeep drive to Visema village.
  • Start your trek which is 30% challenging and 70% moderate and it will take around 4-5 hours.
  • After reaching the camping ground, pitch your tents and move out to explore the valley.
  • Enjoy the overnight stay in tented accommodation with a sky full of stars.

Day 6: Dzukou to Dimapur

Drive: 120 km

Meal: Breakfast

Stay: Hotel 

  • Wake up to a glistering morning and start your hike down the valley, reach at around 10:30 am.
  • Reach the start point of the trek, meet the driver and drive down to Dimapur.
  • Check in to your hotel, freshen up and head out to explore the market on your own, do check the Hong – Kong market.
  • Later in the evening enjoy your overnight stay at Dimapur.

Day 7: Dimapur to Kaziranga

Drive: 165 km

Meal: Breakfast

Stay: Hotel 

  • After breakfast head to Kaziranga, also known as the world heritage site of Kaziranga National Park in assam.
  • Upon arrival, check into your hotel room and spend the rest of the evening in leisure time.
  • In the evening take the option to enjoy a cultural dance performance at the orchid park.
  • Overnight stay at Kaziranga.

Day 8: Kaziranga to Guwahati

Drive: 192 km

Meal: Breakfast

Stay: Hotel 

  • Wake up to an early morning jeep safari through one of the 3 ranges of the park.
  • After an hour into the safari, head back to your hotel, have your breakfast and drive to Guwahati.
  • Check into your hotel, freshen up and head down to Brahmaputra river, take the evening cruise and explore the markets on your own.
  • Overnight stay at Guwahati.

Day 9: Departure

Meal: Breakfast

  • Wake up in the morning, have your breakfast and end this tour.
