Bali Pass Trek Itinerary
Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri
Altitude: 6,455 ft.
Drive: 6-7 hrs. (187 km)

- Stay type: Stay at guesthouse on a double /triple sharing basis.
- Take a shared cab from Dehradun and reach Sankri.
- Enjoy the ride crossing pine forest section alongside river Yamuna.
- Reach Sankri, freshen up and step out of the guest house to explore the village on your own.
Day 2: Drive to Taluka and trek to Seema
Altitude: 8,160 ft.
Drive: 12 km
Trek: 10 km (4-5 hours)
- Meals Included: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner
- Stay type: Stay in tents on a double /triple sharing basis.
- Wake up for breakfast and get transferred to Taluka via cab.
- Start your trek to Bhida ka Thach, descending through a series of forest. Around 15 min into the trek, spot the first cemented bridge over a small stream.
- Another 15 min cross the second bridge over the stream, a wooden one. You can fill your water bottles from here.
- Continue trek and you’ll enter the landslide-prone area with river Thamsa running by your side.
- Keep trekking to reach Osla village, famous for the Someshwar Devta temple (an avatar of Lord Shiva). Have some rest and start again.
- The trek ascends over the confluence of Thamasa and Ruinsara Rivers, giving view of snowy Dhauladhar range.
Day 3: Seema to Roiltia or waterfall camp
Altitude: 10,016 ft.
Trek: 13 km (6-7 hours)

- Stay type: Stay in tents on a double /triple sharing basis.
- Enjoy breakfast, listening the symphony of Tamsa River.
- After half an hour into the trek you’ll see a wooden bridge. From this point the valley divides into two, where one goes for the Ruinsara Lake, Bali Pass on the right, and Har Ki Dun on your left. Take the right.
- After 40 min of trekking through boulder section, you’ll enter Ruinsara forest. The trail ascends in a sharp manner from here.
- Spot Har Ki Dun valley down below your point, another 20 min of walk to the plane surface.
- Pitch the tents near the stream and rest for the day.
Day 4: Waterfall to Ruinsara Tal
Altitude: 11,450 ft.
Trek: 4 km (2-3 hours)
- Meals Included: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner
- Stay type: Stay in tents on a double /triple sharing basis.
- Wake up for breakfast in the meadows of Devsu Thatch.
- Trek the forest that descends to the wooden bridge across Ruinsara River. You can have the Ruinsara Valley towards your right.
- Post the wooden bridge the trail ascends and levels, you walk over the green pastures.
- A few more km into the valley, you enter the dense Birch trees towards the Ruinsara Tal. Cross the boulder section and traverse more.
- You can have the Ruinsara Lake towards the left. The lake is surrounded by meadows aka your campsite with Swargarohini Peaks backdrop.
- Have your hot meals at the campsite and retire for the day.
Day 5: Acclimatization at Ruinsara Lake
Altitude: 11,450 ft.
- Meals Included: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner
- Stay type: Stay in tents on a double /triple sharing basis.
- Wake up, freshen up and have breakfast.
- Stroll nearby meadows and have a view of Black Peak (Kalanag).
- After the acclimatization walk, head back to the campsite and rest.
Day 6: Ruinsara Lake to Odari
Altitude: 15154 ft., via 13,287 ft.
Trek: 5 km (5-6 hours)
- Meals Included: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner
- Stay type: Stay in tents on a double /triple sharing basis.
- Wake up to a chilly morning. Freshen up and have your breakfast.
- The trail today will offer great views of the Ruinsara and Kyarkoti Valley. You walk through the landslide-prone area on your left.
- Start early as it becomes easy to cross the river on the way. Keep walking straight towards the snow moraine while keeping the Ruinsara Lake on the left.
- The view of Kyarkoti on the left and the Swargarohini peaks behind you are majestic, from this point the campsite is a 30 km walk over the slippery snow patch.
- Arrive at campsite, have food and rest.
Day 7: Odari to Upper Dhamni via Bali Pass
Altitude: 16,207 ft. and to 11,076 ft.
Trek: 14 km (9-10 Hours)
- Meals Included: Breakfast – Lunch – Evening Snacks – Dinner
- Stay type: Stay in tents on a double /triple sharing basis.
- Wake up, have breakfast, and start the trek.
- Trek around 45 to 90 min, to cover the Bali pass trek height.
- At the Summit point, get 360 view of Ruinsara, Yamunotri, and the massive view of Bandarpoonch (White Peak) and Kalanag (Black Peak).
- Post the Summit session, look down onto the Yamunotri side for a connecting ridge, the point from where you will descend. The first 70 m section of descending will be done with the help of a rope, the second section of descending can be done with sliding.
- Cross the boulder section and descend down towards the base camp. Please pay attention to the trek guide and move cautiously.
- Enter the forest of the Upper Dhamini and join the steep descent to the lower Damini.
- After reaching the Upper Dhamini campsite, have your meals and retire for the day.
Day 8: Upper Dhamini to Yumnotri to Jaan Ki Chatti
Altitude: 7,874 ft.
Trek: 16 km (7-8 hours)
- Meal Included: Breakfast
- Stay Type: Stay in a guest house on a sharing basis
- Wake up for breakfast and continue trekking for easy descent to Jaan Ki Chatti.
- Make a quick visit to the famous shrine of Yamunotri.
- Later, follow the conventional pilgrim trail to Janki Chatti.
- Overnight stay in guesthouses in Janki Chatti.
Day 9: Back to Dehradun
- Meal Included: Breakfast
- Post breakfast, board your return cab to Dehradun.
- The trek ends here.
Things to Carry on Bali Pass Trek

2. Windproof jacket of decent quality (no flimsy wind cheaters please!) preferably with a hood
3. Warm and thick Fleece / Full-sleeve Woollen sweater
